Punto Banco Standards

Baccarat chemin de fer is wagered on with eight decks in a dealing shoe. Cards under 10 are valued at their printed number while at the same time Ten, Jack, Queen, King are zero, and Ace is 1. Wagers are placed on the ‘bank’, the ‘player’, or for a tie (these are not actual people; they just represent the 2 hands to be dealt).

Two cards are dealt to both the ‘bank’ and ‘gambler’. The value for every hand is the total of the cards, however the first number is discarded. e.g., a hand of five and 6 has a score of one (five plus 6 equals eleven; ignore the initial ‘one’).

A third card can be given out based on the rules below:

- If the player or house achieves a total of eight or 9, both players hold.

- If the player has 5 or lower, he takes a card. Players stays otherwise.

- If the gambler holds, the banker takes a card on 5 or lower. If the player hits, a guide is used to decide if the banker holds or hits.

Baccarat Odds

The better of the 2 hands wins. Winning wagers on the bank pay out 19 to 20 (even payout less a 5 percent commission. Commission are tracked and cleared out when you leave the table so ensure you still have funds around before you depart). Winning wagers on the player pay one to one. Winning bets for a tie typically pays out at 8 to 1 but sometimes nine to one. (This is a poor wager as a tie occurs lower than one in every ten rounds. Be wary of putting money on a tie. Although odds are substantially greater for 9 to 1 vs. eight to one)

Gambled on properly baccarat provides relatively good odds, apart from the tie wager of course.

Baccarat Banque Strategy

As with all games Baccarat has quite a few common myths. One of which is similar to a myth in roulette. The past isn’t an indicator of future actions. Tracking past outcomes on a page of paper is a waste of paper and a snub to the tree that gave its life for our stationary needs.

The most common and definitely the most favorable strategy is the 1-3-2-6 technique. This method is employed to build up winnings and limit risk.

Start by wagering one dollar. If you succeed, add another to the 2 on the table for a total of three chips on the second bet. If you win you will retain six on the table, remove 4 so you have two on the third wager. Should you come away with a win on the 3rd bet, deposit two on the four on the game table for a total of six on the fourth round.

If you don’t win on the 1st round, you take a loss of one. A win on the initial bet followed by a loss on the 2nd causes a loss of 2. Wins on the first two with a loss on the third gives you with a profit of two. And wins on the 1st three with a defeat on the 4th means you are even. Winning all four rounds gives you with twelve, a profit of 10. This means you will be able to lose the 2nd bet 5 instances for every successful run of 4 wagers and still are even.
